This course emphasizes the development of communication skills, including grammar, composition, spelling, and vocabulary. Students develop writing skills through various types of composing: paragraphs, outlines, essays, journals, etc. Literature studies include a variety of genres (short stories, nonfiction, poetry, novels, novellas, plays, etc.) and will help students to develop an understanding of how the craft of writing has changed throughout history. This course is required for graduation.
