Classes

Biology I
DNA pic
Biolgy I is geared towards an introduction to the major areas of the study of life and science in general. The course of study begins with the scientific method, experimentation, and data analysis. From there we work our way through the basics of living things, from organic chemistry to the parts of cells and on through metabolism and cellular reproduction. Next, students will explore genetics and the mechanisms of inheritance via DNA replication, transcription , and translation. The final portion of the year is dedicated to evolution, population dynamics, and other ecology principles.

Biology II
platypus

In contrast to Biology I, Biology II is intended to survey the diversity of life on earth. While Biology I teaches the basics of how life works, Biology II looks at the living organisms themselves: their adaptations, lifecycles, and how they fit in the tree of life. In Biology II, students will learn about everything from bacteria through mammals and everything in between.
