5th hour - AP World History
Course description: In this college level course students will study the development and interaction of world cultures throughout history by applying a wide range of factual knowledge as they analyze themes.  This course emphasizes history from 600 BCE to the present day.  Students may earn college credit by scoring sufficiently on the AP examination administered in the spring. 

Course materials:  Stearns, Peter N. et al. World civilizations:  The Gloval Experience (5th Ed.)

Reading Quiz:  The reading schedule is attached- the day a chapter is due, there will be a short multiple choice quiz over the assigned chapter.  Students may complete the reading guide or reading objectives provided and use them on the quiz and turn them in on the day of the quiz for extra credit.  All reading assignments are to be done at home.  Reading the assigned chapter is essential to success in class as well as on the AP exam.  I 
Essays:  Students will write approximately two essays a month. If any portion of your essay is plagiarized, you will receive a zero on the essay.  

Notebook:  A two inch three ring binder is required.  Each student will receive a packet of documents/readings that will be utilized daily in class. It is essential that students bring their notebook to class everyday and a grade may be taken on your notes.
