Elgin’s Cummins Crowned Spring Homecoming Queen
  In front of a packed crowd last Friday night, Senior Zoe Cummins was crowned as the Owls’ spring homecoming queen.  Zoe was selected by a vote of her peers amongst a court of eight other young ladies.

     Zoe, the daughter of Kip and Lori Cummins, represents basketball, with her escort Senior Tripp Rankin, son of Carl and Traci Rankin.  Miss Cummins is very active at Elgin High School, participating in FFA, Link Crew, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Student Council.  She is also a member of the varsity basketball and soccer teams.  This year, she is president of her senior class, as well as being president of FFA and National Honor Society as well.  Her future plans include attending Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.

     Assisting in the crowning was former spring homecoming queen, Jessica Alvarez, daughter of Charles and Brenda Alvarez and Lay-la Churchill.  The flower girl this year was Katherine Moore, daughter of Richard and Stacey Moore.  Katherine is in Mrs. Wiggins’ 1st grade class.  The crown bearer, Jake Phillips, is the son of Will and Suzanne Phillips.  He is in Mrs. Waid’s 2nd grade class.

     The homecoming court consisted of several additional outstanding young ladies.  Jennifer Dittmann, daughter of David and Carol Dittmann, was escorted by Senior Zac Richards.  She represented Cheer.  Representing baseball was Miss Holly Hunter, daughter of Aubrey and Kelly Hunter.  Holly was escorted by a member of the varsity baseball team, Mr. Christian Gardner, son of Steve and Lynn Gardner.  Stephanie Lane, daughter of Carmen and Rodney Martinez, represented soccer.  Her escort of was Senior Jalen Jackson, son of Markes and Melissa Jackson.  Senior Megan Castlebury, daughter of Ronnie and Teresa Castlebury, represented Elgin’s track and field team.  She was escorted by Senior Brian Betcher, son of Evanna Betcher.  Representing band, Anesia Martinez, daughter of Jim and Connie Guibert, was escorted by Zachery Bordeaux, son of Angela Bordeaux and Mike Bordeaux.  Miss Alaina Rivas, daughter of Ben and Sherri Rivas, represented dance.  Her escort was Senior Beau Murphy, son of Andrew and Araceli Murphy.  Representing wrestling, Bernadette Bocock, daughter of Cheryl Bocock, was escorted by Senior Zack Plumbtree.  Blessing Bread, daughter of Connie Bread, represented golf.  Her escort was Senior Rudy Olvera.
