Elgin Cross Country Places at Duncan

As the cooler temperatures approach, the Elgin cross country teams are reaping the benefits and posting times that have them on mark for the state cross country meet at the end of October.

The varsity boys placed 2nd behind Duncan at the Duncan Invitational last Saturday, and several runners posted personal 5k bests.  Junior Bryce Cook crossed the line first for Elgin, posting a time of 17:41, while Senior James Brenner ran a 17:55 not far behind.  Sophomore Austin Bartosovosky placed in the top 20 also, posting a time of 18:41, while Sophomore Quinton Cintron rounded off the medalists, with a 19:05.   

In the varsity girls’ 2 mile race, the girls placed 3rd as a team.  Top finishers were Junior Kayla Baumgartner, with a time of 13:31, Junior Bobbi Fuglsang, with a time of 14:22, and Sophomore Maddie Richard, with a time of 14:36.  Additional varsity runners also posted their best times of the year as well:  Senior Makyla McKean ran a 14:59 and Sophomore Megan Williams posted a 15:02, while Junior Tyler Green ran a 15:11.

Both teams will be in action this Thursday, September 20th, at Walters.
